The 5 Restaurants You Have to Try in Barrio Italia
Barrio Italia isn’t just Santiago’s design district — it’s the place where food, culture, and creativity meet on every corner. If you’re wandering its leafy streets, these are the five restaurants you absolutely shouldn’t miss, each one with its own spirit, flavor, and story.
🎯 TLDR
If you only have time for five meals in Barrio Italia, make them these:
Siria → Best Middle Eastern food in Santiago incredible hummus, huge share plates, and unforgettable baklava (trust us, Nathan is obsessed).
Casaluz → Romantic, artsy, candlelit dining with creative dishes, standout cocktails, and a beautiful central atrium.
Isekai Ramen → Hands-down the best ramen in Santiago | simple, authentic, and worth the trip.
Pizzería Alleria → The neighborhood’s hottest pizza spot and #1 in Chile | brick-oven pies that beat the hype (and the competition).
Sherpa → Cozy Himalayan comfort food serving bold Nepalese and Tibetan flavors. The perfect warm, soulful stop after a long wander.
Bottom line: Barrio Italia is one of Santiago’s best neighborhoods to eat your way through, and these five restaurants capture its soul, style, and flavor perfectly.

1. Siria — Arabic Comfort Food That Tastes Like Home Cooking
Best For
Middle Eastern food lovers, group meals, comfort dishes, incredible sweets
Walking into Siria feels like stepping into someone’s family kitchen in Damascus with its warm, fragrant, and unbelievably comforting environment. With extraordinary (and sizable) sharable platters, its an ideal date spot perfect for a late lunch of early dinner. The hummus comes in several varieties and is the best I’ve had in Santiago: velvety, rich, and served with warm pita that tastes fresh out of the oven.
Be sure to save room for dessert and tea because, their flaky, sweet, buttery, and perfectly balanced baklava is the real star. Nathan has no self-control when it comes to baklava and other dulces arabes, so when he says its one of the best he’s ever had…he means it. This is the place you go when you want something soulful, generous, and made with heart.
2. Casaluz — Artistic, Romantic, and Unapologetically Beautiful
Best For
date night, special occasions, design lovers
If a restaurant could be a mood, Casaluz would be candlelit, artistic, and effortlessly romantic. The interiors are a perfect blend of soft lighting, plants, rustic wood, and edgy contemporary art makes it feel like dining inside a design magazine.
For an unforgettable experience, be sure to reserve a table in the intimate atrium within the heart of the restaurant. The menu leans into creativity: dishes you won’t find elsewhere, thoughtfully plated, and paired with some of the most interesting cocktails in the neighborhood. Perfect for dinner or one last drink before heading to bed. It’s the kind of spot where you order slowly, eat slowly, and stay longer than you planned.

3. Isekai Ramen — The Best Ramen in Santiago (Yes, Really)
Best For
ramen lovers, cold days, authentic Japanese cousine
Simple, authentic, and lovingly made, Isekai is Barrio Italia’s answer to real Japanese comfort food. Their ramen is the reason people cross the city to eat here with its deep broth, perfect noodles, toppings that taste like someone actually cared.
We ventured to this adorably cozy spot after a very long day of moving into our apartment and the ramen and classically simple sushi hit the spot better than we could have ever imagined.
4. Pizzería Alleria — The New It Spot for Pizza Lovers
Best For
#1 pizzaria in Chile, nights out on the town, dinner with friend
There’s always one restaurant in every cool neighborhood that everyone is talking about and right now, in Barrio Italia, that’s Pizzería Alleria, which just won the award for the best pizzaria in Chile.
Their new location is buzzing: modern, stylish, and always full of people who look like they know where the good food is. You might hit a line, but it moves fast and it’s absolutely worth it.
The pizzas come out of the brick oven with perfect blistered edges, a soft center, and bold Italian flavors. Visitors to the city will often read that Tiramisu, in the heart of the business district, is the best pizza in Santiago, and while it is great, the pizza here at Alleria is simply better. Be sure to add it to your plans because Alleria is the real deal and worth the hype.

Best For
cozy dinners, cold evenings, adventurous eaters
Sherpa is one of those places you don’t expect to find, and then can’t believe you almost missed. Tucked into Barrio Italia’s creative streets, this cozy Himalayan restaurant serves Nepalese and Tibetan comfort food that feels deeply nourishing, especially on chilly Santiago evenings.
We ordered the butter chicken, chicken masala, and garlic naan, the kind of meal that instantly sets the tone for a slow, satisfying night. Both curries were rich, warming, and deeply spiced without being heavy, with tender chicken and sauces clearly built over time rather than rushed. The garlic naan arrived hot and fluffy, perfect for soaking up every last bit.
The space itself is intimate and welcoming, with warm lighting, simple décor, and a relaxed pace that encourages lingering. It’s the kind of restaurant where you settle in, order a few dishes to share, and let the food do the talking.
Sherpa adds a soulful Himalayan voice to Barrio Italia’s food scene. It’s not flashy or trendy, it’s comforting, honest, and quietly excellent.
